We explore news, current affairs, ideas, culture, society, places, nature, technology, history, and everyday life through a mixture of formats: from brief discoveries and visual storytelling to essays, analysis, opinion, interviews, and long-form work.
We believe different subjects deserve different ways of being told. Some ideas need a minute. Others deserve time.
imloka originated in India, but our curiosity does not stop at borders. A local story can reveal something much larger, just as a global event often becomes meaningful through the lives of people experiencing it somewhere specific.
We want imloka to be intelligent without becoming inaccessible, visually distinctive without becoming distracting, and serious without being permanently solemn.
There is already more information in the world than anyone can consume. Our aim is not simply to add to it. We want to find what is worth noticing, understand it better, and present it in ways that respect both the subject and the reader.
Who We Are
imloka is an independent global editorial publication born in India.
We publish journalism, essays, analysis, opinion, cultural writing, visual stories, interviews, observations, and other forms of editorial work across subjects ranging from current affairs and society to places, nature, technology, history, and everyday life.
We are interested in context, unexpected connections, thoughtful disagreement, and stories that help readers see familiar subjects from another angle.
Our contributors may hold different views and write with distinct voices. Opinion belongs to its author; accuracy, fairness, transparency, and intellectual honesty remain responsibilities shared across the publication.
Our audience is not defined by one age group, profession, nationality, or ideology. It is defined primarily by curiosity.
What We're Building
We want to build a publication people return to not because they are afraid of missing something, but because they expect to find something worth their attention.
A publication where quick reading and deep reading can coexist. Where a story from one neighbourhood can sit beside an idea affecting millions. Where politics matters without consuming everything. Where difficult subjects can be examined without manufactured outrage. Where culture, nature, history, technology, society, and ordinary life are treated as parts of the same changing world. And where readers can remain informed without being overwhelmed by the process.
We want imloka to grow into something genuinely global: rooted enough to have character, open enough to remain interested everywhere, and curious enough to keep changing as the world changes.
imloka publishes in both English and Hindi.
