The 401 runs again between midnight and five, for the first time since the service was withdrawn in 2024 on the grounds that nobody was using it.
Who was using it
Ridership data from before the cut showed an average of eleven passengers per service, which is why it was cut. What the data did not show, because nobody disaggregated it, was that those eleven were largely the same people, five nights a week, travelling to shifts that start before any other service runs.
An average of eleven is a weak case. Forty people who cannot get to work without it is a different one.
